Summary
Hand drums are essential accompaniment to songs. This drum, which is Abelam in style, could likley have been traded into the Iatmul area from the Abelam area which lies to the north.
Physical Description
A wooden drum with carving over the body, a tympanun made of reptile skin held in place with a cane fastening. Fibre fringes hand from the cane fastener, and a loop of fibre is attached to the handle.
