Summary

This type of rattle is known amongst ethnomusicologists as a chain rattle. In this case each nut forms a resonating body and is connected by a string to a thicker string belt which is worn on the arm, or leg or hips.

A rattle made of 39 nutshells strung together on a length of woven string.
