Summary

This type of carved figure is used in mortuary rites to honour important men who have passed away. The correct procedure at funerary rites was important, not because the deceased ghost was something to be feared, but undertaken as a cautious respect for the deceased spirits potential involvement in future events.

Physical Description

A wooden human like figure with incised carving on the body and a fibre belt around its waist. There is no head, but a prong at the top.
