Item X 32386 Shield. Manambu. Middle Sepik River, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea. pre 1919

Summary

This light weight shield was made variously of pig, cassowary or crocodile skin.

Physical Description

This shield is oval in shape, and made from crocodile skin stretched over a frame of thick rattan cane. The shield is held by braces on the reverse side.
