Summary

A typewritten copy of poem written for the retirement of George Bult, 30th June 1941.

Nigh fifty years ago today
Our George commenced to make his way.
With Hugh McKay he got a start, And ever since has done his part,
With his pipe and bowler hat.

He always worked with cheerful pride
And helped the workers at his side.
If times looked black for Hugh McKay
Our George would cheer him on his way,
With his pipe and his bowler hat.

The farmers strove to grow more wheat
And used machines that can't be beat -
The Sunshine make! They'd come to stay,
And George Bult drew his well-earned pay.
With his pipe and bowler hat.

In the course of time the Plant came down
From Ballarat to Braybrook town.
The men who worked at fire and forge
Were proud of their great leader - George,
With his pipe and bowler hat.

Shoulders square and chin held high,
Half a century passed by
As through the shops he daily trod,
With kindly smile and friendly nod,
With his pipe and bowler hat.

Never late, and ne'er a slip,
He's proved his worth in leadership.
And in our thoughts he'll have this fame -
"The man who always played the Game"
With his pipe and bowler hat.

Now let us stand and make the most
Of a really extra special Toast:
Exemplary service, a race well run,
To our old friend, George, we say - "Well Done."
