Summary

One of 75 black and white photographs in black covered album, taken in France and Belgium during World War I by Sergeant John Lord.

These photographs provide a record of some of the objects and places that John Lord saw in Belgium and France and the places that interested him most. These include Army camps, Chateau, trains, a plane, local people, other soldiers, horses and trucks. From the list of Lord's subjects, we can see that these photographs were taken in 'time off' that is to say, taking photographs took some time and these images depict people and places removed from battle, for example, soldiers photographed beside a Chatéau.
