Summary

Hand-written letter from Private J. W. Harland, 5th Border Regiment, to Miss Florence Crossley ('Florrie'), care of Red Cross Society, Newbridge, Victoria. Private Harland informs Miss Crossley of his having left hospital one month prior, and tells her that he will forward a piece of poetry to her. He also wishes her success in her work with the Red Cross Society.

He says: ' '...I am 21 and I have only one brother and sister, but I am very sorry to say that my sister died at the age of 23, and I was in France at the time, and my brother has lost his right arm, he was 21 years old, and both are married. We are having very cold weather out hear [sic] just at present, I think we are going to have another severe winter, but I pray to God, we all pull through it.'
