Summary

A 16mm motion film featuring a short animated advertisement for the Kodak Instamatic 56-X Camera Save-A-Stack Pack. The commercial, produced in the mid 1970s by Atlab and Film Graphics for Kodak Australasia, features a young boy taking photographs around his home and telling the audience about it in a catchy rhyme which goes as follows: "Got a beaut' camera given to me / Tried it out on me family / Shot ma dad and I shot ma Mum / Shot ma sister, only had one / Got me shots back, they were great / except the one of me headless mate." His broad Australian accent and the use of humour and badly framed photography was likely intended to make photography seem accessible and non-intimidating.

The Save-A-Stack pack was the first Kodak camera outfit, complete with spare flashbulbs and film, to be based around an Instamatic Camera.

This film is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
