Summary
35mm mounted colour transparency that is part of a collection of images relating to Scienceworks. The images depict exterior views of the building, exhibitions, events and staff, mostly shot by staff photographers.
This image features Roger Cummins who was Curator of Rural Science for Museum Victoria from 1989. During the development of Scienceworks he managed the installation of collection objects into the four new exhibitions. He was enthusiastic about Scienceworks and the Pumping Station in particular. He was a great proponent of activating heritage objects as a means of interpretation.
On the second day of the opening weekend Sunday, 29th March 1992, Roger collapsed and died while driving the Sunshine tractor. He was 26 years old.
He was a much loved member of the team that developed Scienceworks.
