Physical Description

Sculpture of an animal form, Tasmanian Devil, made from kelp. Sections of kelp have been cut to form and sewn together in the form of a Tasmanian Devil. The internal support for the body, limbs, tail and paws is padded red, white/cream and brown fabric which is visible at the piecework joining seams. The animal is depicted standing squarely on all four legs, tail extended and mouth open. One ear is curled back and the other ear is curled forward. The ears and nose/snout are daubed with red/pink pigment. Two blunt echidna quills have been inserted in the upper jaw to form canine teeth. The animal's body is undecorated black kelp, except for a bar of white pigment painted above the tail and above the front left leg. The circular eyes are depicted possibly with black ink with whitish centres.
