Scrapbook compiled by Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd. It contains approximately 153 archival items produced 1958-1974.

The archival items include promotional clippings and advertisement proofs for Kodak products. The products and subjects include camera accessories, cameras, colour printing, colour photography, colour slides, film developing accessories, flash photography, Kodak lecture service, Kodak Technicians, movie cameras, photographic film, photographic prints, sound projectors, and event promotions.

Advertising slogans include 'The photos you take are priceless ... so put your trust in Kodachrome film' and 'Posterity will be the judge of what our generation allowed to happen. The science and arts of photography, as well as glorious music, will make that judgement possible.' Most of the advertising material is newspaper clippings, with multiple copies of the same advertisement taken from various publication dates.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This scrapbook is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Physical Description

Large paper scrapbook with brown paper pages and cover, bound with cardboard and five metal staples along the spine.The book conists of 102 pages (excluidng inside front and back cover) contains paper-based advertising clippings. Clippings are printed in both black and white and colour on matte and glossy paper, some of which has now aged and yellowed. A square white sticker is adhered to the front cover with a typed title. Page numbers are written in ink in the top outer corners of each page from 1-99. A complete 2 page typed index is taped into the first page. All clippings are labelled with either handwritten or typed notes on the top of each page or directly on top of the clippings. All clippings are attached with glue or sticky tape, but many are coming loose in the scrapbook. Pages are numbered in blue ink on the top right hand corner of each page. The promotional materials range in size from 230 mm (W) x 428 mm (H) x 132 mm (W) x 183 mm (H).
