The archival items include promotional clippings and advertisement proofs for Kodak products. The products and subjects include Eliptical Dot Screens, Estar Base, Kodak Ektalith Method, Kodak High Speed Duplicating Film, Kodak MP Intermatch System, Kodak Ortho Scanner Film, Kodak PMT Materials, Kodak Polymatic Litho Plates, Kodak Polytrans Color Proofing Film, Kodak Pre-Angled Magenta Contact Screens, Kodak Tri-Mask Film, Kodak Typesetting System, Kodaline Paper and Kodalith Film Processor Model 324B. Also included are advertisements for Kodak professional services such as Kodak Mechanized Systems Counsellors and the Kodak Technical Sales Representatives. A number of the advertising proofs also have balance sheets detailing the cost of production for the advertisements and hand written comments and reflections on the development process.

Advertising slogans include'Buck passing isn't our line. We accept total product responsibility' and 'Go from copy to press the Kodak Way. We have a reputation to protect - yours!' Advertising material has been prepared by Kodak (Australasia) Pty Ltd or Berry Currie Advertising (Vic.) Pty Ltd.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This scrapbook is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Physical Description

Large faded blue scrapbook with off-white canvas binding along the spine, containing 90 pages holding advertising proofs and clippings for Kodak products. The last 46 proofs have been stored inbetween the back cover and last page. The promotional materials range in size from 256 mm (W) x 383 mm (H) and 401 mm (W) x 320 mm (H). Some have handwritten notes in blue ink. The clippings are mostly in black and white, with a few colour copies, on gloss and matte paper and are adhered to thick green paper pages with sticky tape. A number of proofs have come loose inside the scrapbook, with many stored in the back. Some advertising proofs have notes hand-written in pencil. Many pages are blank.
