Scrapbook compiled by Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd. It contains approximately 115 archival items produced 1792 -1975.

The archival items include promotional clippings and advertisement proofs for Kodak products. The products and subjects include cameras, colour photographic prints, flash photography, colour photography, slide projector, photographic film, pocket instamatic camera and travel photography. Many of the clippings are multiple copies of the same advertisement in different editions of a publication, most advertisements relate to travel and tourism photography.

Advertising slogans include 'your own pictures are the best souvenirs' and 'Go see Australia ... and bring it back in pictures.' Advertising material prepared by Kodak Australasia Pty. Ltd.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This scrapbook is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Physical Description

Large black hardcover scrapbook with square yellow label adhered to front cover. Contains 103 brown paper pages (excluding inside front and back cover) with gloss and matte paper advertising clippings and promotional material attached. A typed index on the first page describes the contents, with corrections and page numbers handwritten in blue ink. Each odd page is numbered in the top right hand corner in pencil from pages 1 - 81. The clippings are adhered to paper pages with sticky tape and sometimes glue. A number of proofs have come loose inside the scrapbook. Some pages throughout are blank, where a themed section has not been filled. The promotional materials range in size from 97 mm (W) x 220 mm (H) and 195 mm (W) x 250 mm (H).
