Summary

This motion film contains a range of television commercials relating to Kodak Instamatic cameras for both photographs and motion picture.

The Instamatic camera range was a series of inexpensive, easy-to-use and easy-to-load cameras with built-in flash capacity, that were first launched in 1963. The range proved to be immensely popular and was in production for over 20 years.

The first commercial on the film, 'Aren't memories wonderful', which is part of a Christmas campaign, has decimal currency advertised, so must be 1966 onwards. The second commercial is for Instamatic movie cameras, while the third is another 'Give Memories' Christmas campaign. The fourth commercial is a Christmas campaign that promotes how easy Instamatic cameras are to load film into and use. The fifth commercial is a partly animated Instamatic camera promotion.

This film reel is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
