Summary
Copy of a medal depicting Filippo Marquis d'Este. The original medal by the artist Alessandro Ardenti was cast during the 16th century at Reggio nell'Emilia. This uniface electrotype copy was made circa 1881 by Robert Ready. This electrotype was taken from from a cast lead medal set in a lead frame in the British Museum's collection (Reg. G3,FerrM.19). The electrotype is copper plated and toned.
