Summary
This is the left-hand light cover from the Littlejohn Graphic Systems Ltd 'Copyspeed Type 170' process camera. The light covers, placed either side of the main camera unit, were designed to house the 750 watt tungsten lamps, but they also hand rubber-tipped fixtures on top, used as rests for camera components when they were hinged open.
This camera was used in the Packaging Design department of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd at the Coburg factory from about the 1950s until the early 1980s. It would have been used to produce design material for much of the Australian designed and made packaging from the mid twentieth century that is now held in the Kodak Heritage Collection at Museum Victoria.
Physical Description
Tall, three-sided metal unit, painted metallic blue-grey, with ventilation grids on the top of each face, and four holes for bolting on to the main camera body. On the top of the cover is a metal rod with a rubber tip for resting the vacuum film board upon when open.
