Summary
Program for a metropolitan schools of Victoria 'Physical Culture Display' held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 19 October 1934 in the presence of the Duke of Gloucester as a Centenary of Victoria celebratory event. The display commenced with an unfurling of the Union Jack by the Duke of Gloucester, the same flag raised by the Duchess of Cornwall & York (later Queen Mary) at the Exhibition Building on 14 May 1901. Then followed a series of displays, including a gavotte by 3000 young students, a flag drill by 3000 junior boys, a day of the leaves by 2000 senior girls, a bush frolic by 2000 junior girls and boys, as well as general physical displays by thousands of boys and girls.
