It is a birthday card sent by television station GTV Channel 9 to a boy, who was a member of the Tarax Happy Club. This was for viewers of `The Tarax Happy Show', hosted by television personality Happy Hammond, which was sponsored by local soft drink manufacturer Tarax. Members were sent a card for their birthday, each calendar year had a different design featuring cast members from the show. The 1960 card had ventriloquist doll Gerry Gee sitting at the head of a table at a birthday party, surrounded by children in party hats drinking orange Tarax.

It has a typed name and address on the front, with an Australian 5d postage stamp celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Boy Scouts and Girl Guide movement.

Produced at the station's studios in Richmond, the program first went to air in January 1957, only two days after Channel 9 commenced broadcasting in Melbourne. It ran until 1961, after Happy Hammond moved to HSV Channel 7, when it was renamed `The Tarax Show'.
