Summary

A colour photograph of Louis Shane Allan (commonly known as Shane) who worked with the Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd from 1965 to 2002 in various roles. He is pictured here circa 1984 on the phone in his office at the Kodak factory complex in Coburg.

Mr Allan started off in planning and stock control, later moving to managing government contracts, before he became Kodak's Ombudsman with the job of resolving difficult problems with customers.

This image was donated as part of the Kodak Oral History Project. It complements the Kodak Heritage Collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.Shane worked with the company from 1965 to 2002 in various roles.
