Summary

Colour photograph of a Kodak Australasia research laboratory staff member monitoring a piece of experimental fibre optic equipment.

The photograph features a female Kodak staff member in white lab coat, and clear rimmed safety glasses operating a piece of experimental laboratory equipment with a fibre optic cable running through it.The caption reads: 'Fibre optic technology is being developed for remote sensing of environmental parameters in production situations.'

This photograph was likely exhibited in a trade show or factory tour of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd's Coburg plant, promoting the work of Kodak's Research Laboratory. The poster is made of cardboard with Velcro tabs on the back to attach to a presentation board or carpet board.

There are 8 of these mounted photograph posters in the Kodak Heritage Collection. They were likely exhibited together and tell a story about the different methods and technologies used in Kodak's experimental research division in the early 1990s.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This photograph is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
