Summary

Photograph of the construction of the Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd factory complex at Coburg, as seen through the fence of former Kodak employee and local Coburg resident, Yvonne Cameron. The photograph is captioned 'View from House In Tilley Street - Digging Out Basement for Building 20' and was taken circa 1958 - 1963, when the Coburg site was being constructed.

Yvonne not only worked in the canteen and staff shop at Coburg from 1964 to 1975, she was an active member of the Kodak Camera Club. She lived in a street behind the factory and watched as the factory was constructed in the late 1950s, saw through its various phases of development and then she witnessed its final closure and destruction from 2004 - 2011.

This image was donated as part of the Kodak Oral History Project. It complements the Kodak Heritage Collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
