Summary

Black and white, half plate negative featuring a photograph of a soldier in Australian Infantry Services uniform and regulation British Service Cap of World War I, circa 1914-1918. The negative is engraved 'Sincerely To Tom Hall'. He may have some relation to the Independent Order of Rechabites.

The provenance of this image is unclear, but it came from the Kodak corporate museum at Coburg. It is probably a copy negative from the original print which has a white border and signature across the bottom of the print.

This image is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
