Summary

Colour photograph of the self-service desks and Finished Prints racking in a Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd Consumer Service Centre, Melbourne, circa 1980. The Finished Print racking is organised alphabetically and contains all of the processed negatives and photographic prints ready for collection by customers. This view shows the length of the store, several self-service counters for leaving films to develop, and steps at the back of the store leading to a retail area.

It is number four in a series of five colour photographs and corresponding negatives of the Consumer Service Centre.

This group of images is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.
