Summary

Black diary used for accounting by Frank (Francis) Storie, issued by the National Oil Company as for marketing purposes. Frank was a storeman who became, by 1912, a salesman, then a merchant. As his fortunes improved his family moved from Brunswick to larger house with a garden in Canterbury.

Most of the hand-written entries record payments by a person (probably) through to a particular date. It also records weights (substance unidentified) at particular dates, with costs against each, and the draft of a letter to a town clerk of 'Br' (presumably Brunswick, where Frank Storie lived) regarding a sum of money due to the MMBW (Melbourne & Metropolitan Board of Works).

Part of a collection of paper-based ephemera relating to the life of Francis' daughter Miss Elsie Storie, a middle-class Melbourne woman who was born around 1895, lived through both wars, and remained in Melbourne all her life.
