Handkerchief produced in France during World War I, for sale to military personnel stationed there to send back to their relatives.
It was sent to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, by Will Francis, and was the beginning of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.
