Summary

Invitation for the opening of the Mind and Body Gallery at Melbourne Museum, Carlton, 29 March 2001. This invitation was issued to Dr Ken Gifkins of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd Health Imaging Department.

The front page of the invitation features a reproduction of a full-body x-ray of a woman's body which Kodak had used for promotional and educational purposes during the mid to late 20th century, and which they provided for use on this invitation design. This image also appears in a radiography display image taken in the 1930s by either Kodak Australasia or Eastman Kodak (MM 138258).

The invitation was extended by Professor David Penington AC, President of the Museums Board of Victoria, and Dr George MacDonald, Chief Executive Officer of Museum Victoria and Director of Melbourne Museum. The gallery was to be opened by Sir Gustav Nossal AC CBE.

This object was donated as part of the Kodak Oral History Project. It complements the Kodak Heritage Collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
