Summary
Typed draft of a letter written by Dr Dorothy Howard addressed to a 'Participating Classroom Teacher' in circa 1954-55. Dr Howard's letter follows on from a letter of introduction sent to a number of Western Australian primary schools by Director of Education Dr Robertson. She drafts a letter to teachers, who may be willing to assist with her research project, providing information about the research and enclosing the necessary documentation. Dr Howard writes that she will visit Perth between March 20th and April 1st, 1955.
One of a collection of letters written to and from children's Folklorist Dr Dorothy Howard between 1954 and 1995. Dr Howard came to Australia in 1954-55 as an American Fulbright scholar to study Australian children's folklore. She travelled across Australia for 10 months collecting children's playground rhymes, games, play artefacts, etc. The original fieldwork she collected during this period is held in the Australian Children's Folklore Collection (ACFC) at Museum Victoria and includes index cards, letters and photographs.
