Summary
This handkerchief was produced to commemorate the upcoming coronation of King Edward the VIII, due to be held in 1937. Due to his abdication, the event was cancelled and so his brother was crowned instead, and became George VI.
It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.
