Summary
This handkerchief was produced as a souvenir of a voyage on the RMS Samaria, which was transatlantic ocean liner built for Cunard Line in the early 1920s. During the Second World War it was used as a troopship by the Royal Navy. The ship was eventually scraped in 1956.
It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.
