Summary
This silk scarf was produced as a souvenir of the New York World's Fair, held in 1939. It depictsa circle of people in various national costumes, surrounding a large group of country names, who were represented by pavilions at the fair.
It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.
