Summary
This handkerchief was produced as a souvenir of the American motion picture `Top Hat', released in 1935. it features performers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire performing in a number from the film, entitled `Piccolino'. The dress Rogers wore in the scene is now in the collection of the National Museum of American History in Washington DC.
It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.
