It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.

Physical Description

Fine white cotton handkerchief with rolled, finished edging. Two corners feature applique flower buds in navy and light blue silk. Green silk is used for stamens and there are smaller yellow and pink knot flowers throughout. Drawn threadwork decorations stress the vertical and horizontal plane in each floral design.
