Summary

This pocket handkerchief features apple blossom motifs in each corner, with cobwebs strung between two of them.

It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.

Physical Description

White rayon handkerchief with machine-stitched edge. Features assymetrical pink flower motifs in each corner with pale green and blue leaves. Two corners feature cobwebs strung between the flowers. In the largest cobweb, a spider sits in the centre and a flying insect is trapped at the web's edge.
