Summary

This pocket handkerchief features a large cobweb design surrounded by autumnal foliage and berries.

It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.

Physical Description

White rayon handkerchief with machine-stitched edge. Features large centralised cobweb with two flying insects caught in it. This is bordered by a wreath of autumnal leaves and berries. These and the insects are highlighted in shades of red, brown, orange and yellow.
