Postcard featuring a black and white photograph of Private William Nairn. It was sent by his wife Eileen to her sister-in-law Sarah Jackson at William's request, shortly before William embarked for overseas on16 December 1916. She writes 'I was in hopes he would never have to go.' He was killed in the trenches of France on 4 July 1918.

Postcard featuring a black and white photograph of a soldier in a studio with classical architectural details just visible behind. The other side has hand-written text over printed postcard format. The corners are slightly curled; spots of discolouration re visible on edges.
