Summary
Postcard featuring a full-length portrait of Private William (Bill) Nairn in front of a rural-themed studio backdrop. The back is probably written by Eileen Nairn (who signs off 'Eil & Bill') to his sister Sarah Jackson, in two parts - the second part providing news that Bill is to sail on 5 December 1916. His ship, the A7 Medica, eventually sailed on 16 December. He was killed in the trenches of France on 4 July 1918.
Physical Description
Postcard featuring a full-length portrait of a uniformed soldier in front of a rural-themed studio backdrop. The back has been printed as a postcard, and has been hand-written, first in purple pencil, then in ink. Marks and losses on the back suggest that it has been glued into an album at some stage.
