Summary
This pale blue cotton handkerchief with scalloped edging displays a variety of different sewing techniques. The single decorative whitework corner panel features lace, drawn thread work and embroidery, and there is a wreath of embroidered flowers coming from this in multicoloured thread.
The handkerchief belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.
