Summary

This handkerchief features an embroidered garland of flowers over applique and embroidery.

It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.

White cotton handkerchief with a scalloped, finished edge. One corner features embroidered yellow and pink flowers and decorative stitching in an applique panel. There are further whitework floral garlands below.
