Summary

This handkerchief is embroidered in variegated thread with heart and flower designs and scalloped edging.

It belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.

Fine white cotton handkerchief with scalloped, finished edge. One corner features an embroidered design in white and multicoloured, variegated thread featuring a central heart shape and garlands of flowers.
