Summary

This handkerchief features predominantly peach coloured floral embroidery and a drawn thread segment in one corner.

The handkerchief belonged to Emily Hannah Francis, of Garden City, and was part of a collection of 145 souvenir and commemorative handkerchiefs put together by Emily, sent to her by pen friends from around the world, up to her death in 1943.

Physical Description

White cotton handkerchief with scalloped edge finished in peach-coloured thread. Floral designs are embroidered in the same peach, plus blue and green silk thread in each corner, with a larger and more elaborate flower alongside some drawn thread work in one corner. This feature corner also has highlights of pale yellow silk.
