Summary
Single steel-capped snow boot for right foot, Bison brand. Used by staff at the Australian Antarctic Division, the boots were probably issued from, and returned to, a supply depot.
Provided to Museum Victoria by the Australian Antarctic Division in 2007 for in an International Polar Year display at the Discovery Centre, Melbourne Museum.
Physical Description
Brown leather and rubber soled snow boots, lined with cream wool, exterior heavily soiled and worn.The upper is made from brown leather and extends to the shin.The boot is secured by laces, which are attached to the upper with leather tabs and metal rings. The sole is constructed from black and brown moulded rubber, which extends over the toe.
