This photograph was taken by the author B. Wongar on a journey between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek in the mid-1960s. Wongar's photographs capture a period of time in Central Australia when a large proportion of Aboriginal people were actively employed on remote cattle stations in the region. In this image, on the stockmen holds the billycan up to drink from it. A telegraph pole, from the now defunct Overland Telegraph Line system, can be seen in the background.
