Summary

Main street of Coober Pedy, looking south towards the Stuart Highway. This photograph was taken by the Serbian migrant and author B. Wongar (Sreten Bozic). During this period the mining industry expanded rapidly in Coober Pedy, mainly to the many European migrants who came to seek their fortunes. The town has retained a proud multicultural identity.
