Summary
This tie was made by Doug Kite, it has a square end plait, using an 'under one-over one' method. The tie is made from tan kangaroo hide, has a double layer, and a plaited collar strap with adjustable buckle. The edge of the tie has an etched line. The square end was a unique design and took Doug a period of 3 to 4 years to resolve. The collection of ties that Doug has made are another example of his innovative, mathematical and creative flair in designing plaited items that have no known precedent.
Part of the Doug Kite Leather Braiding Collection which consists of handmade leather braided products, hand tools and works in progress made by Doug Kite from 1984 to 2016.
