Summary
Unfinished example of a Scobie nob made by Doug Kite using cane, kangaroo hide with a half-hitch. Doug knew Alex Scobie when he was living in Maree. Alexander Frederick Scobie, was a famous whip maker who was one of many well-known characters who inspired Doug Kite as a child and young drover, and who shaped the legends that strung along the Birdsville Track from Marree to Birdsville.
Part of the Doug Kite Leather Braiding Collection which consists of handmade leather braided products, hand tools and works in progress made by Doug Kite from 1984 to 2016. The Collection also includes oral histories, video and photographs. The Collection was featured on the ABC Landline program on 7 August 2016.
