Summary

John Joseph (JJ) Rouse with his wife Anna Rouse on the deck of a ship, before departing Melbourne on a 12 month world tour, in January 1926.

This photograph was most likely taken onboard the ship the Mooltan, on which they sailed to London, leaving Melbourne on Thursday 14 January 1926. The Rouses are surrounded by flower arrangements, typically given to passengers leaving on a long journey.

JJ and Anna Rouse's world tour also took in Europe and America, the latter where they visited their eldest daughter Marjorie Lucey who now lived in Pennsylvania in the USA. They returned to Australia with Marjorie and her daughter Winnie accompanying them for a 6 month holiday, on Thursday 16 Dec 1926 on the Ventura (Matson Line).

John Joseph (JJ) Rouse was a co-founder of Baker & Rouse and later was a founding managing director of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd. He travelled overseas several times to visit the Kodak head office in Rochester, USA and Kodak Limited in the UK.
