Edgar Rouse became managing director of Kodak Australasia in Melbourne in 1928, then became chairman of the board of Kodak in 1938, succeeding his father John Joseph (JJ) Rouse when he died. JJ Rouse had been a co-founder of Baker & Rouse and later was a founding managing director of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd.
