It is possible that the family were on their way to a wedding or other event. The location of this photograph is possibly Clendon Road in Toorak, near St John's church which was is on the corner of Clendon and Toorak Roads.

Edgar Rouse was a managing director of Kodak Australasia from 1928, and later succeeded his father John Joseph (JJ) Rouse in 1938, who had been a co-founder of Baker & Rouse and then a founding managing director of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd.
