Summary

Bound set of the 4 page Jamboree Daily, the official organ of the Pan Pacific Jamboree Camp, held at Yarra Brae, Wonga Park, Victoria, from 29 December 1948 to 9 January 1949. It includes issues of the Jamboree Daily published on 30 December 1948, 31 December 1948, 3 January 1949, 4 January 1949, 5 January 1949, 6 January 1949, 7 January 1949, 8 January 1949 and a souvenir edition of The Herald published on 6 January 1949. Each edition of the Jamboree Daily includes a daily program as well as articles on events and activities, both those happening during the Jamboree as in the Pacific region generally. There is also extensive advertising the each edition mainly relating to food products and tools, clothing and equipment relevant to Scouts.

The 3rd Pan Pacific Jamboree, held at Yarra Brae Farm, Wonga Park, was the first post-war international scout gathering and attracted 11,000 scouts and scouters from around the world.

Physical Description

Bound copy of the Jamboree Daily for the Pan Pacific Jamboree Camp. Brown cardboard cover with blue fabric binding, with details of the camp printed on the cover. Inside are 16 double sided pages of tabloid size newspaper printed in black ink with a mixture of articles, images and advertising. These are followed by a smaller 8 page supplement also on newspaper containing images with minimal text.
