Summary
This whip handle was made by Doug Kite using kangaroo hide and an inner cane handle. It has a Scobie knob with a Doug Kite variation - a 3 plait with a flair, which is an easier and quicker start to the nob. This braided handle uses a 'under 4, over 4' method. This demonstrates the special square-end start to the half handle that Doug has developed.
Part of the Doug Kite Leather Braiding Collection which consists of handmade leather braided products, hand tools and works in progress made by Doug Kite from 1984 to 2016. The Collection also includes oral histories, video and photographs. The Collection was featured on the ABC Landline program on 7 August 2016.
